In partnership with Hove Park School, a sanctuary school for refugee children in Brighton, we designed a participatory workshop to nurture student autonomy.
We began with two basic assumptions:
1. belonging to a community is the foundation of autonomy and fulfillment
2. communication is key in feeling part of the community and being accepted in it.
And therefore asked ourselves the questions:
1. how can we communicate without focusing on verbal language?
2. how can unifying interests and experiences break down barriers?
With a clear idea in mind, we set out to design a new educational experience, focused on connecting people and nurturing their individual autonomy.
